Multiple Target Tracking with Multiple Finite Resolution Sensors

چکیده
In this paper tracking multiple targets with multiple finite-resolution sensors is presented with emphasis on the measurement-to-track association with possibly unresolved measurements. Two data association algorithms are considered. The multiple scan data association problem is first formulated as a multidimensional assignment problem with explicit new constraints for the unresolved measurements. The auction algorithm for 2-D assignment with unresolved measurements is discussed and the multistage Lagrangian relaxation approach for solving the N-D assignment problem (for an N−1 frame sliding window) is also generalized to the current finite-resolution sensor situation. Subsequently, a modification to the assignment problem is developed that leads to a linear program (LP) where the optimal solution can be a noninteger in [0, 1]. The fractional optimal solution is interpreted as data association (pseudo)probabilities over the N − 1 frame sliding window. Consequently, the target states are updated by a probabilistic data association (PDA) filter. The hard (binary) decision assignment solution is compared with the soft decision (LP) solution for a twodimensional tracking problem of two closely-spaced targets with various sensor configurations. Based on the simulation results, the soft assignment approach has better track maintenance capability while its computational load is somewhat higher than that of the hard assignment approach.

A novel hybrid method for tracking multiple indistinguishable maneuvering targets using a wireless sensor network is introduced in this paper. Multiple target tracking (MTT) is taken into account as one of the most important topics in tracking targets with radars. In this paper, the MTT problem is used for estimating the position of multiple targets when a 2-D radar is employed to gather measurements. To do so, the Joint Probabilistic Data Association Filter (JPDAF) approach is applied to tracking the position of multiple targets. To ...

Bearings only tracking is a challenging issue with many applications in military and commercial areas. In distributed multi-sensor multi-target bearings only tracking, sensors are far from each other, but are exchanging data using telecommunication equipment. In addition to the general benefits of distributed systems, this tracking system has another important advantage: if the sensors are suff...
متن کاملSensor Compromise Detection in Multiple-Target Tracking Systems
Tracking multiple targets using a single estimator is a problem that is commonly approached within a trusted framework. There are many weaknesses that an adversary can exploit if it gains control over the sensors. Because the number of targets that the estimator has to track is not known with anticipation, an adversary could cause a loss of information or a degradation in the tracking precision...
